Drivers at South Dade Facility Vote Overwhelmingly in Favor of the Union (Miami) Drivers at Coca-Cola Beverages Florida's (CCFB) South Dade facility voted today by a three-to-one margin to join Teamsters Local 769. Of the 48 eligible voters, 47 participated in representation election. "This is another win for freedom and democracy," said Jorge Castillo, a CCBF driver who emigrated to the U.S. from Cuba. Drivers and Dockworkers Stand Strong Against XPO’s Anti-Union Violations

Teamsters that work at XPO Logistics in Miami returned to work on April 10th following a successful unfair labor practice (ULP) strike that began the previous morning. The 70 drivers and dockworkers were taking a stand against XPO’s continued anti-union behavior that has resulted in the filing of numerous ULP charges including ones for denying raises for which the company was ordered to pay by an administrative law judge. Teamsters Kick Off Organizing Blitz at XPO

 Teamsters kicked off a multi-campaign organizing blitz in Miami today which began with drivers and dock workers at XPO Logistics taking action outside of their terminal. The XPO workers, who voted to join Teamsters Local 769 in 2014, have been working without a contract for more than three years and are demanding pay increases that have been withheld by the company. The workers are also calling on XPO to respect workers and negotiate a fair contract. The voting began Thursday night at 11pm and on Friday morning August 26th, when the votes were counted, Teamsters Local 769 had 101 new brothers and sisters.   In a major victory, Sysco workers in West Palm Beach voted to join Teamsters Local 769 in Miami. The bargaining unit, which consist of nearly 120 para-transit drivers, is contracted by Broward County to provide services to primarily elderly and special needs citizens who need transportation to medical appointments, shopping and other essential locations.
