Teamsters Local 769 Nails Enterprise Rent-A-Car for Back Dues

   A rental car company waited too long to challenge an order that it reimburse a labor organization out of its own funds for union dues that should have been deducted from employee paychecks, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit held ( Enterprise Leasing Co. of Fla., LLC v. NLRB, 2016 BL 153618, D.C. Cir., No. 15-1200, 8/5/16 ). The court closed the case without reaching the merits of an unusual order that precludes the employer from recouping dues payments from the employees who would have made them but for the employer's labor law violations. Avis/Budget Employees WIN BIG!

Teamsters Local 769 would like to welcome our newest members from the Avis / Budget groups at the Miami and Fort Lauderdale Airport Locations. This encompasses both the Rental Representatives and the Customer Service Representatives at both locations.  The employees at these locations voted unanimously to ratify their first contract which officially makes them new Teamsters. It is a long-standing policy of Teamsters Local 769 to not collect dues from any group that has voted for Teamster representation until they ratify their first contract. Big Victory at Avis/Budget

Teamsters Local 769 is proud to announce another organizing victory. Yesterday an election was held for the Avis Budget Group at the Ft. Lauderdale and Miami Airports. Of the 132 total employees Teamsters received 82 votes. The IAM (Machinist) got 2 and the company got 2. This election was not even close. We are proud to welcome these new members to Local 769. Local 769 has organized over 300 new members in the past 30 days. Now it is off to get strong agreements for all of these new members. Strong election results such as this make that job easier.…
