On Thursday May 19, 2016, Teamsters Local 769 welcomed the Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners Jean Monestime and his Senior Policy Advisor Terry Murphy, PhD. For the 10th year in a row,  the Teamsters Local 769 Annual South Picnic will feature a car show which has grown to be one of its favorite attractions. Teamsters Applaud Treasury Decision to Deny CSPF Cuts, Protect Retiree Pensions

Union Will Continue to Move Forward on Legislative Efforts to Repeal MPRA, Protect Pensions (WASHINGTON) – Today, the Department of Treasury announced its decision to deny the Central States, Southeast and Southwest Areas Pension Fund (CSPF) application to cut the pensions of thousands of Teamsters Union retirees. The union applauds this decision, and will continue to work with members of Congress to find a solution to the pension crisis. Drivers at Sysco SEF Vote for Teamster Representation

  In a major victory, Sysco workers in West Palm Beach voted to join Teamsters Local 769 in Miami.   Workers at First Transit in Broward County  voted by an overwhelming 82.5% for Teamster representation on Friday April 8th, 2016. The bargaining unit, which consist of nearly 120 para-transit drivers, is contracted by Broward County to provide services to primarily elderly and special needs citizens who need transportation to medical appointments, shopping and other essential locations. Living Wage Healthcare Amendment PASSES in Miami-Dade

Teamsters Local 769, along with help from the South Florida AFL-CIO, SEIU, South Florida Interfaith Worker Justice, and Catalyst Miami, have fought to pass the Living Wage Healthcare Amendment in Miami-Dade County. On April 5, 2016 Miami-Dade County Commissioners voted 12 to 1 in favor of passing the amendment which will help thousands of working families access affordable healthcare. UAL Teamsters Escalate Picketing and Warn of Possible Strikes

On February 26, 2016, hundreds of United Airlines mechanics picketed at the San Francisco, Los Angeles (LAX), Newark, LaGuardia, Washington Dulles, Cleveland, Boston Logan and Orlando airports, to educate passengers about the possibility of upcoming strikes. Last week, mechanics voted down United’s contract proposal by 93 percent. Mechanics also voted overwhelmingly to authorize a strike.
