Business Agent/Organizer
Daniel Vera was born in Huntington, Long Island, New York. He is a first-generation born stateside. His parents migrated over from Puerto Rico in the early sixties. Daniel was raised in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, and attended the Perth Amboy public school system. His father worked at Sunshine Biscuit’s in Sayreville, New Jersey, and was a member of the baker’s union until his retirement. His mother was a homemaker and a school bus driver.
Daniel moved to Miami in 1989 and began working for Publix and Coca-Cola before he had the opportunity to get his first Teamster union job at Initial USA in 1992 in Opa-Locka, Florida. Daniel has worked for various companies throughout his life. He’s worked in construction, the movie industry, textile, trade shows, nuclear power plants, and as an organizer for the International. Over the last ten years, Daniel has been either a Steward or General Foreman when working through the union.
Daniel has a daughter and two granddaughters. Daniel’s daughter is married to an Airman and is presently stationed in Pordenone, Italy.
