iPods for Wounded Veterans Update

Teamsters Local 769 Human Rights Commission On Tuesday, February 11, 2014, Wayne Fox, co-chair from iPods for Wounded Veterans organization, was a guest speaker at the I.B.T. Brewery and Soft Drink Workers Conference 2014 Annual Meeting in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Wayne Fox thanked Teamsters Local 769 for the continued support for our veterans and to the iPods for Wounded Veterans program. During this conference Wayne and Joe Zuffante, President of local 122, spoke to Business Agents and Officers from the United States and Canada on the importance of getting involved and shared personal stories from the wounded soldiers that received letters from the Dear Solider letters campaign. I.R.C.S.O. Lieutenants Ratify First Contract!

The Lieutenants at the Indian River County Sheriff's Office ratified their first ever collective bargaining agreement which guarantees a 3% wage increase for the first year of the contract. The Lieutenants at the Sheriff's Office only recently voted to join the Teamsters and according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, overall crime in the county dropped 4.3% in 2012 from the year before so the pay increase is well deserved.
