Monroe County Food Drive

The Teamsters annual food drive in Monroe County was once again a great success. The success comes at the generosity of many members contributing non-perishable products. While all the Teamsters who participate in this success are significant, in this particular picture are three of the driving forces, Becky Roberts from the Sheriffs office, Charlie Pons from the city of Key West and Zach McCart from UPS. Thanks to them and to all of the Teamsters who contributed their time and efforts to again make this years food drive a positive Teamster influence on our community.

Local 769 in the Community

Teamsters don't just fight for improvements or equality in the workplace, they are also active within their communities to make life a little better for all. A few years back, a program was started in Key West to collect food for those in need where the food collected would stay entirely within the Key West area. Monroe County Corrections Officers Ratify New Contract

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office corrections officers have ratified a new contract which includes a wage increase of 3% and vacation time will now be considered time worked. Monroe County corrections officers serve throughout the Florida Keys. The ratification vote was a landslide with a count of 73 "yes" votes to 3 "no". Business agent John Sherman also reported that accomplishments such as this are a direct result of members who stay active in their community as well as the Union.
