Congressman Honors Local 769 Members

On Tuesday June 17th, 2014 at the UPS facility in Riviera Beach, Florida, Teamsters Local 769 members were honored by Florida District 18 Congressman Patrick Murphy for their safety and dedication to their community. UPS drivers Al Vargas and Jeff McNeil were inducted into the UPS Circle of Honor which is achieved by having a safe driving record for 25+ years. Congressman Murphy spoke about their great achievement and congratulated all of the Circle of Honor members on their accomplishment and dedication to safety. Special Weekend Phone Service For UPS Members

TeamCare welcomes the opportunity to serve the future healthcare needs of UPS Teamsters starting this Sunday, June 1, 2014. To assist Teamster members with the transition,TeamCare will be open this weekend. The Participant Services call center will be open both Saturday and Sunday for UPS Teamster members. Although the call center is normally closed on weekends, TeamCare is providing special member service hours this weekend.  UPS Teamster members can reach TeamCare at 800-323-9257. UPS to Add Thousands of New Jobs

The following press release is from General Secretary-Treasurer Ken Hall who today announced that UPS will add thousands of new package jobs across the country this year in the face of strong Teamster enforcement of the new National Master UPS Agreement. The new contract took effect April 25 and is the largest collective bargaining agreement in North America, covering about 240,000 UPS Teamsters. UPS Retro Check Update

UPS members will see the 70 cent contractual wage increase in their paychecks this week for all hours worked last week. We have also been informed that the retro checks will be issued on or about May 27th. The retro check will be a separate check from the usual paycheck and will not be taxed at a higher rate. Retro checks will be paid for all hours worked since August 1, 2013, including overtime hours. UPS Contract Update

Effective April 25th, 2014, the 2013 National Master United Parcel Service Agreement and all Supplements, Riders, and Addenda are in effect. Local 769 UPS Members should begin to see their retro checks in a few weeks. The retro check will be a separate paycheck to avoid being taxed at a higher rate and it will be a LIVE CHECK (meaning members who utilize direct deposit will have to cash this check). New 9.5 and Surepost protections go into effect immediately beginning April 25th, and UPS will begin making retroactive contributions to Health and Welfare and Pension Funds immediately. UPS Ohio Rider passes. On Wednesday, March 19th, 2014, the IBT announced that the Ohio Rider has been passed by the membership.  Still outstanding are the Western Pennsylvania Supplement, Local 623 Supplement and the Local 89 Air Rider.  Ballots will be mailed for the Local 89 Rider this week and will be counted on April 10, 2014. Informational Picketing at UPS Supply Chain Solutions

On February 14, 2014, an information picketing was assembled in front of the UPS Supply Chain Solution facility. The purpose of the information picketing was to let the company know that Teamsters Local Union 769 will stand for your rights. UPS Supply Chain Solution made unilateral changes to the employee’s health insurance benefits without bargaining with the union. UPS Supply Chain Solution has taken the position to remove the spouse of employees from the health insurance if they have insurance at their place of employment without bargaining with the Union.
