769 Teamsters Still Hard at Work

Teamsters Local 769 members and staff have been hard at work, even during all of the restrictions and closures due to the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19). Information has been pouring in from many of our employers, affiliates, and benefit plans, and while many of our members are busy delivering goods and services or dealing with restrictions and closures, we have been negotiating special protections for our members. 769 Helps Student Organize Relief for the Bahamas

Teamsters Local 769 partnered with the IBT Human Rights Commission, UPS and others to help a 15 year old Miami Art Studio High School student organize relief for Hurricane Dorian survivors in the Bahamas. On Friday September 13, 2019, Steven Ferreiro, a sophomore student at Miami Art Studio, hosted a hurricane relief collection drive at UPS Air Cargo in Miami. Supplies and necessities needed in Bahamian Communities such as toiletries, non-perishable foods, water, and more were collected and prepared to be sent via UPS Air Cargo. UPS & UPS Freight Members Authorize Strikes If Necessary

UPS and UPS Freight Teamsters have approved giving their respective negotiating committees the right to call a strike, if necessary. The UPS members authorized a strike, if necessary, by a 93 percent margin. At UPS Freight, the margin was 91 percent. The vote was conducted by electronic secret ballot and the tally was released tonight. UPS UPDATE – Ratification

Members of Local 769 voted overwhelmingly for the ratification of the National Master Agreement and Southern Supplement (UPS Brown). The Freight Agreement and Air Cargo Agreement were not ratified. Click here for results on the IBT website. We are waiting for the vote to be certified by the International and they are taking the lead in that process. The local will update our members as soon as more information becomes available.
