iPods for Wounded Veterans Update

Teamsters Local 769 Human Rights Commission On Tuesday, February 11, 2014, Wayne Fox, co-chair from iPods for Wounded Veterans organization, was a guest speaker at the I.B.T. Brewery and Soft Drink Workers Conference 2014 Annual Meeting in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Wayne Fox thanked Teamsters Local 769 for the continued support for our veterans and to the iPods for Wounded Veterans program. During this conference Wayne and Joe Zuffante, President of local 122, spoke to Business Agents and Officers from the United States and Canada on the importance of getting involved and shared personal stories from the wounded soldiers that received letters from the Dear Solider letters campaign. Introducing Our NEW Business Agents

At the General Membership Meeting on January 16, 2014, President and Principal Officer Mike Scott introduced the members in attendance to Teamsters Local 769's two newest business agents, Mike Cortez and Randy Pines. Mike Cortez is a 38 UPS veteran with more than 28 years as steward. Mike has also worked as an organizer on numerous organizing and political campaigns. Randy Pines has been a Teamster for nearly 30 years, coming to us from Joint Council 75. Over his years as a Teamster he has served as an Organizer, Political Liaison & Business Agent. UAL Technicians Stand Up

In a continued effort to get the word out to the public and put the company on notice, Teamsters Local 769 members hold another system wide hand billing and picketing event at all the main station terminals. Their goal is to show that the United Airlines Technicians are not pleased with the direction the company is going and it's unwillingness to negotiate a fair contract. Local 769 Toy Drive Delivers

Thanks to all the brothers and sisters of Teamsters Local 769 who contributed toys for our 2013 Toy Drive. This year, toys were distributed throughout the entire region that Teamsters Local 769 represents as well as to children still suffering in the aftermath of the earthquakes in Haiti. Below is a photo taken at United Way of Dade county as Teamsters Local 769 (human rights commission) makes a delivery of the donated toys from our members. United Way of Broward County and United Way of West Palm Beach also received toy donations from Teamsters Local 769.
