On Saturday January 17, 2015, Teamsters Local 769 hosted its first ever CPR class at the Miami Union hall. Today's workplace is safer than ever thanks to Labor Unions, but in an age of increased productivity and automation the battle to keep the workplace safe goes on. Over the weekend Teamsters Local 769 partnered up with and sponsored the 100 Black Men (Greater Fort Lauderdale Chapter), for their 9th annual bike drive. Our Mission is “To improve the quality of life of African/Caribbean American families through the enhancement of educational and economic opportunities within or community” said Dennis Wright-President. Again this holiday season, Teamsters Local 769 will be collecting toys for children in need. We will be distributing those collected through programs in Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties. In October of 2014, David Renshaw from Teamsters Local No. 769, Miami, FL, received the Teamsters of the year award for 2014. An offshoot of the national Helmets to Hardhats program, the Teamsters Military Assistance Program (TMAP), provides disability assistance for all military veterans and job placement opportunities for veterans in the construction industry. The program's disability initiative alone can help workers track down services, benefits and funds owed to them as veterans - in some cases, for as much as tens of thousands of dollars in back benefits. Teamsters Local 769 Human Rights Commission On Tuesday, February  11, 2014, Wayne Fox, co-chair from  iPods for Wounded Veterans organization, was a guest speaker at the I.B.T. Brewery and Soft Drink Workers Conference 2014 Annual Meeting in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Wayne Fox thanked Teamsters Local 769 for the continued support for our veterans and to the iPods for Wounded Veterans program.
