Shop Visit – MCO Orlando

Teamsters Local 769 President and Principle Officer Mike Scott will be making a station visit to MCO on Monday July 15, 2013. Mike will be walking around touring the facility, meeting members and available for questions and conversation. If you have never met Mike, don't be shy, come on over and say hello. Mike and Local 769 business agent Tommy Esposito will be at the south hangar between 7 & 7:30am and then over to the north hangar and line.

UPS Contract Extension

UPS and the Union have agreed to an extension of the current UPS National Master Agreement and all Supplements, Riders and Addenda. This means that all of the current Agreements will remain in place until the Supplements that did not receive a majority of votes have been re-voted and agreed to. Read the full press release below-

TEAMSTERS APPROVE NATIONAL UPS CONTRACT

UPS Freight Contract Rejected In Separate Referendum June 26, 2013 The Teamsters Union announced today that a majority of UPS Teamsters have voted to approve a new five-year national contract that contains significant wage increases and other improvements. The vote on the contract, the largest collective bargaining agreement in North America, was 34,307 to 30,202The union also announced that UPS Freight Teamsters have rejected a proposed five-year national agreement with UPS Freight by a vote of 1,897 to 4,244. UPS UPDATE – Ratification

Members of Local 769 voted overwhelmingly for the ratification of the National Master Agreement and Southern Supplement (UPS Brown). The Freight Agreement and Air Cargo Agreement were not ratified. Click here for results on the IBT website. We are waiting for the vote to be certified by the International and they are taking the lead in that process. The local will update our members as soon as more information becomes available. There will be a referendum on whether to accept the proposed changes to the National Master United Parcel Service Agreement, Supplements and Riders. The referendum is being conducted by mail ballot. Ballots will be mailed to all eligible members on or about Tuesday, May 28, 2013. All ballots must be received at the designated post office box in Lantham, Maryland, by 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 20, 2013, to be counted. Teamsters helping out in Oklahoma City

Don't send water and don't send clothing to Oklahoma City if you want to help the victims of the deadly tornado. That's the advice of Teamsters working on the disaster relief effort. They're urging members to donate to the Teamsters Disaster Relief Fund, every cent of which will help people in need. (Click here to make a tax deductible contribution.) Oklahoma City officials are saying 12,000 houses were damaged or destroyed by the tornado, one of the worst in history.
