City of Fort Pierce Workers Ratify 1st Year Increase of 8%

On Tuesday, May 25, 2021, public sector members at the City of Fort Pierce ratified a new 3 year contract which includes an 8% increase for all workers in the first year of the agreement and additional incentive pay increases for sanitation workers. The agreement also includes reopeners for wages during the second and third years, so this contract ensures that these essential workers will be compensated for their efforts now and into the future.

The public sector workers in the City of Fort Pierce have been represented by the Teamsters for 45 years and are the longest running public sector unit in Local 769.

Teamsters Local 769 Business Agent Steve Myers had this to say about the process. “These workers have continued to work throughout the pandemic and their communities have been awarded relief payments from the Federal Government. It is about time that these municipalities share the financial assistance they have received with the workers who keep the city running.” Steve continued, “I would like to thank the members of our negotiating committee for their efforts in making sure the needs of their brothers and sisters were addressed at the table.”

Congratulations to these Fort Pierce Teamsters and stay Teamster Strong!
