This week the Teamsters National UPS Negotiating Committee convened for the ninth week of negotiations, and the union leaders discussed a variety of topics that are important to members. The committee met throughout the week, winding up Thursday afternoon. Topics that were discussed include pulling loads off the rails to create additional sleeper teams throughout the country; allowing destination locals to file grievances on subcontracting; 70-hour work week; health & welfare and pension; as well as wages and progressions. Tell Congress to Urge Action on Critical Pension Legislation

Our nation’s retirees are facing an impending pension crisis. Through no fault of their own, their pensions are being threatened with massive cuts if Congress fails to act. Legislation, entitled the Butch Lewis Act of 2017 (S. 2147/ H.R. 4444), has been introduced to help shore up pension plans that are currently facing insolvency. Take Action! Union Will Continue to Move Forward on Legislative Efforts to Repeal MPRA, Protect Pensions (WASHINGTON) – Today, the Department of Treasury announced its decision to deny the Central States, Southeast and Southwest Areas Pension Fund (CSPF) application to cut the pensions of thousands of Teamsters Union retirees. The union applauds this decision, and will continue to work with members of Congress to find a solution to the pension crisis. IBT Conducts TLA at Our Miami Hall

From March 11-14, 2014, Teamsters Local 769 hosted a Teamsters Leadership Academy (TLA) where we welcomed business agents and officers from locals across the nation for advanced training and education. The focus of the course was on the legal aspects of collective bargaining in private and public sectors. The four day program placed special emphasis on contemporary and difficult bargaining questions including healthcare and pension.
