Car Show Back for it’s 8th Year

Once again,  the Teamsters Local 769 Annual South Picnic will feature a car show for what will then be its 8th appearance. If you haven't already marked November 1st on your calendar, you should. Among all of the other activities at the South Picnic, the car show is always a hit. This year's show will again be filmed for Car Show Television and will feature classic and late-model cars that are always a must see. UPS to Add Thousands of New Jobs

The following press release is from General Secretary-Treasurer Ken Hall who today announced that UPS will add thousands of new package jobs across the country this year in the face of strong Teamster enforcement of the new National Master UPS Agreement. The new contract took effect April 25 and is the largest collective bargaining agreement in North America, covering about 240,000 UPS Teamsters. UPS Retro Check Update

UPS members will see the 70 cent contractual wage increase in their paychecks this week for all hours worked last week. We have also been informed that the retro checks will be issued on or about May 27th. The retro check will be a separate check from the usual paycheck and will not be taxed at a higher rate. Retro checks will be paid for all hours worked since August 1, 2013, including overtime hours. UPS Contract Update

Effective April 25th, 2014, the 2013 National Master United Parcel Service Agreement and all Supplements, Riders, and Addenda are in effect. Local 769 UPS Members should begin to see their retro checks in a few weeks. The retro check will be a separate paycheck to avoid being taxed at a higher rate and it will be a LIVE CHECK (meaning members who utilize direct deposit will have to cash this check). New 9.5 and Surepost protections go into effect immediately beginning April 25th, and UPS will begin making retroactive contributions to Health and Welfare and Pension Funds immediately. City of Fort Pierce Settlement

Teamsters Local 769 reaches grievance settlement on behalf of the City of Fort Pierce bargaining unit employees after one full day of arbitration. The settlement will require the City of Fort Pierce to pay all Teamsters bargaining unit employees a 2.8% wage increase retroactive to January 1, 2013. Teamster members in Fort Pierce have responsibilities which encompass a variety of infrastructure-related services including regularly scheduled maintenance and repair of all City owned facilities, vehicles, equipment, parks, rights-of-way, streets, drainage, and more. Local 769 Stands Up For Airline Workers

TEAMSTERS LOCAL  769  shows solidarity and supported the International Federation of Transport Workers The ITF LATAM Airlines Network of Unions would especially like to thank the ITF Americas office and Teamsters Local 769 of Miami for their support in Miami this weekend.  Teamsters are members of the ITF, the International Federation of Transport Workers, representing 4.5 million transport workers around the world. IBT Conducts TLA at Our Miami Hall

From March 11-14, 2014, Teamsters Local 769 hosted a Teamsters Leadership Academy (TLA) where we welcomed business agents and officers from locals across the nation for advanced training and education. The focus of the course was on the legal aspects of collective bargaining in private and public sectors. The four day program placed special emphasis on contemporary and difficult bargaining questions including healthcare and pension. Steward Seminar is a Big Success

On Saturday March 8th, 2014, Teamsters Local 769 hosted a Steward Seminar to offer more in depth training to the men and women who are on the front lines of the War on Workers.
