YRC Proposal to be Voted on by Members

Company Proposal Extends and Modifies Existing MOU (Washington, D.C.) –The IBT reports that leaders today from Teamster local unions representing members at YRC Worldwide, Inc. (YRCW) approved providing their members the ability to vote on the company’s proposed changes to the current Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The company is proposing to extend and modify the current restructuring agreement from March 31, 2015, when it is scheduled to expire, until March 31, 2019. Delegates from Local 769 attend IBT Leadership Academy

On December 3rd and 4th, 2013, delegates of Teamsters Local 769 attended a Teamster Leadership Academy titled "The Social Art of Educating Members" in Montebello, CA. The International Brotherhood of Teamsters Training and Development Department created the program and it was hosted by Teamsters Local 986. The focus of the event was on communicating with Teamster brothers and sisters utilizing all of the latest means of technology and social media outlets to keep members better informed and educated on issues affecting today's workers. Again this holiday season, Teamsters Local 769 will be collecting toys for children in need. We will be distributing those collected through programs in Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties as well as through a program which will send them to children still struggling in the aftermath of the earthquakes in Haiti. Markham Park Car Show

On November 2nd, 2013, Teamsters Local 769 hosted the Annual Car Show at Markham Park. There was a fantastic turnout this year and spectators were treated to a huge variety of unique and classic cars. The car show has been part of our Annual South Picnic for a number of years now and the weather really cooperated with all of the collectors this year, allowing all of them to display their precious metal without the threat of thunderstorms. Teamsters Local 769 Salutes Our Veterans

A short time ago, at our most recent General Membership Meeting, Business Agent David Renshaw introduced the membership of Local 769 to the Dear Soldier Campaign. Through this letter writing campaign, wounded veterans at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and the Fort Belvior Community Hospital in Virginia receive thank you letters from students of Teamster members as well as from their friends and neighbors. David spoke about the campaign at our October General Membership Meeting and explained to members how they can get involved. I.R.C.S.O. Lieutenants Ratify First Contract!

The Lieutenants at the Indian River County Sheriff's Office ratified their first ever collective bargaining agreement which guarantees a 3% wage increase for the first year of the contract. The Lieutenants at the Sheriff's Office only recently voted to join the Teamsters and according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, overall crime in the county dropped 4.3% in 2012 from the year before so the pay increase is well deserved.
