'Tis the Season once again for our Annual Teamsters Local 769 Toy Drive. Our Union will be collecting toys for children in need and distributing those collected through programs in Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Martin and Monroe Counties. Tomorrow, Tuesday, December 5th, state representatives on the Government Accountability Committee will vote on HB 25, the union busting bill that would eliminate Florida public unions in a workplace if an arbitrary number of workers, set by the politicians, do not voluntarily pay dues. Hurricane Irma Relief from Teamsters Local 25

On Wednesday, September 20, 2017, a tractor-trailer from Teamsters Local 25 arrived at Crowley in Port Everglades-Fort Lauderdale, FL.  Manfi Leasing Drivers Jimmy Williams and John Curtin made the trek down to Florida on behalf of Local 25. The trailer was full of generous donations for Hurricane Irma relief. Due to the logistics in delivering the donations to the Florida Keys, the donations needed to be received, unloaded and then reloaded into two 20 foot containers. Teamsters Local No. 769 – Relief Efforts to the Florida Keys- Hurricane Irma

On September 10, 2017 at 9:10 Am (EST), Hurricane Irma made landfall as a Category 4 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson wind scale as it rolled into the Florida Keys. The center of Irma’s eye crossed Cudjoe Key, 20 miles east of Key West, packing 130-mph winds, where an estimated 10ft storm surge occurred in the afternoon. The hurricane caused major damage to buildings, trailer parks, boats, roads, the electricity supply, mobile phone coverage, internet access, sanitation, the water supply and the fuel supply.
