The following notice details a Strike Authorization Vote for all Teamsters Local 769 members at UPS. The IBT has mandated that a “walk-in” vote be conducted, and it was recommended that the vote take place in Union halls and locations outside of the worksite. UPS & UPS Freight Teamsters Week 9 Update

This week the Teamsters National UPS Negotiating Committee convened for the ninth week of negotiations, and the union leaders discussed a variety of topics that are important to members. The committee met throughout the week, winding up Thursday afternoon. Topics that were discussed include pulling loads off the rails to create additional sleeper teams throughout the country; allowing destination locals to file grievances on subcontracting; 70-hour work week; health & welfare and pension; as well as wages and progressions. You should have received your UPS or UPS Freight strike-authorization voting materials, which includes a credential to vote electronically, by now. Materials were mailed out on May 15. If you have your voting materials, your Negotiating Committee urges you to vote YES now to authorize the UPS or UPS Freight Negotiating Committee to call a strike in the event the committee is unable to negotiate an acceptable collective bargaining agreement. UPS, UPS Freight Strike-Authorization Vote Timeline

UPS and UPS Freight Teamsters will vote soon to consider giving their respective negotiating committees the right to call a strike, if necessary. The vote will be conducted by secret ballot as UPS and UPS Freight contract votes have been done in the past, but this time UPS and UPS Freight Teamsters will be using the telephone and Internet through the BallotPoint Election Services voting system.
