David was born in Providence, Rhode Island in 1963.
He graduated from Cumberland High School in 1981, and while attending Rhode Island Junior College, David started working for St. Johnsbury Trucking Company, where he first became a Teamster in Lincoln, Rhode Island, in early 1983. He worked under the National Master Freight Agreement and became a full-time regular employee in 1986. St Johnsbury is where he obtained his Chauffeur License (now called a CDL) and learned what it was to be a Freight Teamster.
St. Johnsbury Trucking was a victim of deregulation and shut its doors in June of 1993. Within days of St. Johnsbury closing, he began working at Red Star Express in Seekonk, MA. and became a full-time regular employee there. While at Red Star in 1994, he experienced his first strike, walking the picket line for over 3 weeks before the strike was called off. In June of 1999, David and his family relocated to Florida where he began working at Overnite Transportation, knowing there was an effort to organize the company in progress.
After nine years and an attempt to organize, he became a Teamster again when UPS purchased Overnite Transportation. A “card check” organizing campaign resulted in UPS Freight workers joining the Teamsters. David immediately began representing his coworkers as a Teamster Shop Steward and enforcing the new UPS Freight contract.
Since joining Local 769, David has regularly been involved and active in the Local, from various leafleting assignments to multiple get-out-the-vote campaigns. In January of 2018, he sat in negotiations and took notes on the National Master UPS Freight Agreement on behalf of the IBT and Local 769.
David was hired as a Teamsters Local 769 Business Agent in October of 2019, he currently represents members at ABF, TForce Freight, Crowley Liner Services, Penske, IMEX and 10 Roads Express.
David and his wife, Jennifer, currently reside in Royal Palm Beach, Florida. They have four adult children: DJ, Ryan, Evan, and Lauren.
