2020 Teamsters Local 769 Toy Drive

While this year may be a bit unusual and you may be doing all of your holiday shopping online this season, remember to pick up and extra toy for those less fortunate. Teamsters Local 769 will again be collecting toys for children in need this year and we will be distributing those toys collected through programs in Dade, Broward, Monroe and Palm Beach Counties. Tragic Shooting of UPS Driver in Miami

The following statement from Teamsters Local 769 is in regard to the tragic shooting of a UPS driver in Miami today. "It is with a heavy heart that I write this statement this evening. We are heartbroken by the tragic events from earlier today regarding one of our Teamsters Local 769 members (UPS Driver), who was carjacked while doing his job. He was ultimately victimized in a shootout after a lengthy police pursuit with the carjackers. Teamsters Kick Off Organizing Blitz at XPO

Teamsters kicked off a multi-campaign organizing blitz in Miami today which began with drivers and dock workers at XPO Logistics taking action outside of their terminal. The XPO workers, who voted to join Teamsters Local 769 in 2014, have been working without a contract for more than three years and are demanding pay increases that have been withheld by the company. The workers are also calling on XPO to respect workers and negotiate a fair contract. On Thursday May 19, 2016, Teamsters Local 769 welcomed the Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners Jean Monestime and his Senior Policy Advisor Terry Murphy, PhD. They were acknowledged during our monthly General Membership Meeting for their commitment to Miami's working class and the recent passage of the Living Wage Health Care Amendment in Miami-Dade County.
