Local 769 Responds to Hurricane Michael

Following Hurricane Michael, Teamsters Answer the Call for Action Following the devastation of Hurricane Michael, Teamsters formed a disaster relief labor coalition with the Florida AFL-CIO to provide assistance to residents of the Florida Panhandle. IBT Disaster Relief has taking the leading role in setting up the logistics for relief supply distribution in the region. The labor coalition set up distribution points at local schools and other locations, and trucks began driving into the affected communities today to locate residents and get them essential items that they need to get through the aftermath of the storm. 70,000 Pounds More Relief on its Way to Puerto Rico

Over the weekend, Teamsters Local 769 and Teamsters Hispanic Caucus Florida Chapter, along with local Union members and residents of Pembroke Pines, worked together to collect hurricane relief supplies for Teamsters Local Union No. 901 and the community in Puerto Rico. A "Great Big Thank You" to all who donated, helped to sort items, labeled items and helped to load the donated items into the shipping container. Teamsters helping out in Oklahoma City

Don't send water and don't send clothing to Oklahoma City if you want to help the victims of the deadly tornado. That's the advice of Teamsters working on the disaster relief effort. They're urging members to donate to the Teamsters Disaster Relief Fund, every cent of which will help people in need. (Click here to make a tax deductible contribution.) Oklahoma City officials are saying 12,000 houses were damaged or destroyed by the tornado, one of the worst in history.
