Teamsters Local 769 Helps Saves Lives

On Saturday January 17, 2015, Teamsters Local 769 hosted its first ever CPR class at the Miami Union hall. Today's workplace is safer than ever thanks to Labor Unions, but in an age of increased productivity and automation the battle to keep the workplace safe goes on. Union members are the safest, most highly trained workers in their industries and having the correct training to respond to an emergency can sometimes be the difference between life and death. Local 769 Helps Deliver 110 Bikes

Over the weekend Teamsters Local 769 partnered up with and sponsored the 100 Black Men (Greater Fort Lauderdale Chapter), for their 9th annual bike drive. Our Mission is “To improve the quality of life of African/Caribbean American families through the enhancement of educational and economic opportunities within or community” said Dennis Wright-President. In October of 2014, David Renshaw from Teamsters Local No. 769, Miami, FL, received the Teamsters of the year award for 2014. Teamsters Supporting Military Veterans

An offshoot of the national Helmets to Hardhats program, the Teamsters Military Assistance Program (TMAP), provides disability assistance for all military veterans and job placement opportunities for veterans in the construction industry. The program's disability initiative alone can help workers track down services, benefits and funds owed to them as veterans - in some cases, for as much as tens of thousands of dollars in back benefits. Regardless of Teamster membership, military veterans in all 50 states are encouraged to complete a TMAP Veteran Registration Form to begin the process to locate, determine and/or recoup any lost benefits or resources…

iPods for Wounded Veterans Update

Teamsters Local 769 Human Rights Commission On Tuesday, February 11, 2014, Wayne Fox, co-chair from iPods for Wounded Veterans organization, was a guest speaker at the I.B.T. Brewery and Soft Drink Workers Conference 2014 Annual Meeting in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Wayne Fox thanked Teamsters Local 769 for the continued support for our veterans and to the iPods for Wounded Veterans program. During this conference Wayne and Joe Zuffante, President of local 122, spoke to Business Agents and Officers from the United States and Canada on the importance of getting involved and shared personal stories from the wounded soldiers that received letters from the Dear Solider letters campaign. Local 769 Toy Drive Delivers

Thanks to all the brothers and sisters of Teamsters Local 769 who contributed toys for our 2013 Toy Drive. This year, toys were distributed throughout the entire region that Teamsters Local 769 represents as well as to children still suffering in the aftermath of the earthquakes in Haiti. Below is a photo taken at United Way of Dade county as Teamsters Local 769 (human rights commission) makes a delivery of the donated toys from our members. United Way of Broward County and United Way of West Palm Beach also received toy donations from Teamsters Local 769.

Local 769 Gives a Gift of Hope

United Way of Broward County came by the Union Hall today to pick up their donated school supplies and toys for their toy drive. The donated supplies went to Sunland Park for early achievers and the program is called “Give a gift of hope”. Sunland Park Early Achievers is an initiative focusing on intensive in-school and after school tutoring, family literacy, and parent support in an effort to improve third-grade reading success. One third of 3rd graders in Broward County can not read at the 3rdgrade level. These children are 50% more likely to drop out of high-school. Donations of the…

At a recent conference, Teamsters Local 769 Business Agent David Renshaw was introduced to a wonderful way of giving back to our brave soldiers. Those who have and those who continue to serve the United States of America in all branches of the armed forces.
