Local 769 Helps Deliver 110 Bikes

Over the weekend Teamsters Local 769 partnered up with and sponsored the 100 Black Men (Greater Fort Lauderdale Chapter), for their 9th annual bike drive. Our Mission is “To improve the quality of life of African/Caribbean American families through the enhancement of educational and economic opportunities within or community” said Dennis Wright-President. Teamsters Local 769 2014 Toy Drive

Again this holiday season, Teamsters Local 769 will be collecting toys for children in need. We will be distributing those collected through programs in Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties. The following flyer can be posted on Local 769 approved job site bulletin boards and distributed to members. With toys being split to multiple areas, please encourage all of your brothers and sisters to participate. Let’s make this year’s Toy Drive the biggest ever. A Salute to Our Service Men and Women

  Teamsters Local 769 has always shown strong support for all of our returning military service men and women and have always worked to be involved in programs that welcome them home and show them how thankful we are for their service, A little over a year ago at one of our General Membership Meetings, Business Agent David Renshaw introduced the membership of Local 769 to the iPods for Wounded Veterans organization and the Dear Soldier Campaign. Local 769 Toy Drive Delivers

Thanks to all the brothers and sisters of Teamsters Local 769 who contributed toys for our 2013 Toy Drive. This year, toys were distributed throughout the entire region that Teamsters Local 769 represents as well as to children still suffering in the aftermath of the earthquakes in Haiti. Below is a photo taken at United Way of Dade county as Teamsters Local 769 (human rights commission) makes a delivery of the donated toys from our members. United Way of Broward County and United Way of West Palm Beach also received  toy donations from Teamsters Local 769.

Local 769 Gives a Gift of Hope

United Way of Broward County came by the Union Hall today to pick up their donated school supplies and toys for their toy drive. The donated supplies went to Sunland Park for early achievers and the program is called “Give a gift of hope”.  Sunland Park Early Achievers is an initiative focusing on intensive in-school and after school tutoring, family literacy, and parent support in an effort to improve third-grade reading success. One third of 3rd graders in Broward County can not read at the 3rdgrade level. These children are 50% more likely to drop out of high-school.  Donations of the…

A Wonderful Holiday Event

The Teamsters Local 769 Annual Holiday Picnic was this past Saturday, December 7th and a wonderful time was had by all. The Indrio Road Park in Fort Pierce served as the location again this year and while the skies were a bit cloudy, the weather cooperated nicely. Santa Claus made a rare South Florida appearance and face painting, pony rides and bounce houses had every child smiling. There were plenty of happy adults as well.
